For more than a year now, I’m jobless. That’s because I’m currently taking up my Doctorate Degree in Accountancy and Business Laws. For more than a decade, I’ve been in the Media and Advertising industry. Before I resigned from my work, I was already a Senior Advertising Associate and at the same time, an acting Advertising Assistant Manager.

So what’s the sudden decision to go back to school? I guess I always wanted to earn that PhD title at the end of my name. Having enough funds to support my own education, I decided to give learning another shot. Besides, being a bachelor has lots of perks. The best thing about it – I can live life to the fullest without considering other people.

Leaving my job is no easy task. I mean, that’s my only source of living. And I’m even unsure if I can handle the pressure of being in a class full of young individuals. Furthermore, I don’t know if I have the adequate intellectual capacity for dissertation writing.

Well, dissertation is still months away. I still have ample time to prepare for it, but my financial resources are depleting every minute. Although I still have a pending job offer from the previous advertising agency I worked for, the thrill of finishing my doctorate degree is exhilarating.

My friend way back in college, he was able to earn his PhD title when he had his second grandchild. He said at his age, dissertation writing was extremely challenging. He felt he was in a different world – everything’s new. The school facilities are new. His essay advisor was even 12 years younger than him.

I guess there’s no other way but to go forward. Whether I’ll get back to work or not, I think it pays to have reached this age and still manage to study. Anyway, have to search for my spectacles and work on my report.
